The City of Burlington has approximately 300 fleet assets, ranging from light-duty to heavy-duty vehicles, with Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) systems. The AVL systems are used to track and monitor these vehicles, generating detailed reports on essential operational aspects, including idling times, driver behaviour, vehicle inspections, fuel consumption, travel routes, and specific vehicle locations. The integration of AVL technology is vital for optimizing the management of the City’s fleet, ensuring efficient service delivery, and enhancing oversight, particularly for operations that involve both in-house and outsourced services and everyday municipal activities.
