Timeline: 2021 onwards
In 2021, the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system at the downtown transit terminal was replaced and consists of a high-efficiency gas furnace and a cold climate air source heat pump.
Since late 2021, when the system was commissioned, the City has been enjoying an 80% reduction in operational GHGs. In 2023, the City also installed a heat pump at a former pump house that is now being used by BurlingtonGreen Environmental Association as their EcoHub. The EcoHub is also the site of a pollinator garden, a Level 2 EV charging station, and a bicycle repair station and air pump.
