Timeline: 2017 onwards
The goal is to restore David Dunlap Observatory Park to a healthy and diverse urban forest that provides habitat to local wildlife and contributes to healthy natural ecosystem within the park and surrounding area. The long-term restoration plan will involve the creation of 8.41 ha of new self-sustaining, native forest communities and to manage and enhance 24.46 ha of existing woodlands within David Dunlap Observatory Park.
2023 update:
In 2023, the City continued ecological restoration at DDO Park (Phase 1 & 2). Phase 3 at
DDO Park commenced in August 2023, which includes meadow and woodland habitat
creation and restoration.
