Timeline: 2021 onwards
The City of Guelph installed 20 new public charging stations in 2021 with the funding support of $100,000 from the federal government. The charging stations were installed at multiple locations, including various recreation centres, Riverside Park, the Guelph Civic Museum, the east and west parkade, the parking lot of the Guelph Lawn Bowling Club and the Guelph Public Library main branch.
These new stations bring the total number of city-owned and operated EV charging stations to 24.
2023 update:
The Government of Canada granted $420,000 from its Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP) to the City of Guelph to install 24 Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations and four fast chargers by the end of 2023.
