Timeline: 2022 onwards
The Town of Halton Hills is committed to promoting active transportation projects that encourage both cycling and walking throughout the community. With nearly half of all trips in the Town being under 5 kilometers, there is a significant opportunity to shift towards more sustainable transportation options and active transportation modes. This initiative aligns with the goals outlined in the Mobility Master Plan, which is set to commence in 2025.
To demonstrate its commitment to sustainable transportation and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the Town implemented several active transportation projects for 2023 and 2024. These projects include the development of new cycling paths, enhancements to pedestrian walkways, and infrastructure improvements that facilitate safe and accessible routes for all residents. Implementing a 3 km cycle track on Maple Avenue in 2022 and rolling out a Share the Road Signs – 15 Side Road and 10 Side Road between Trafalgar Road and Regional Road 25 exemplifies the Town’s commitment to improving active transportation infrastructure and reducing the transportation footprint. By investing in these initiatives, Halton Hills aims to create a healthier environment and promote sustainable commuting practices within the community.
