Timeline: 2023 onwards
In 2023, Peel Region brought Ontario’s first fully electric waste collection vehicle in partnership with Emterra Group. This pilot vehicle collects waste from over 5,000 homes and contributes to the long-term waste management goal of achieving 75% 3Rs waste diversion by 2034. It pioneers electrification in heavy-duty waste vehicles.
